Life with Dakota and Lily

After Lily and I got home
in the wee wee hours
of the morning, she checked
out the house (I think she was
looking for Dakota).
This morning she was back to
herself. She has peed several times
today and I caught her drinking
water!

YAY...

Nurse from White Oaks Pet Clinic
in Fairview called to check on
Lily today. Test results were not
in at that point and the doc was off
so he will call tomorrow.
But...I think he might have been
right and she had a small
virus cause giving her
the fluids she is herself today.

Yesterday she curled up on my
daughters end table, wanted to be
left alone and slept all day.

I think she might have been a little
depressed also.

At my brothers house she runs and
plays. Other animals are there.
But at Amber's, she was in a
lot smaller place and no animals.

This is her sleeping today after being
herself all day.

Love how she has the paw tucked
under the chin.

Melts your heart....don't it?

Now trying to take Dakota is another story...
he turns his head and will not
look at me!
Brat!

He was happy when I picked him up
at mom's today. So excited to get home.
After the two weeks we have had
I explained to these two that
we were home for a good while
and no more house sitting for awhile.

My two fur babies enjoying
a night evening at home
laying near their mom..
who am I kidding, they don't
care about that, they are near
each other.

Here again...he will not look
at me!
HAHA

But he will stick his tongue out
at me!

After this last house/kid sitting
deal Lily might not ever
jump in the bag again to
go.....

I was packing a few things and
she jumped in like she was
not being left behind.

FLEAS~

Dakota never gets fleas.
Summer before this last one
I found ONE on him
during a bath.

This last month both fur babes
have had an issue. I think Dakota
got them and then Lily got them.
I treated both with a 30 day treatment.

We were done...
but then Lily got one at the vet yesterday
I think or it was a long lost egg hatched
out on her.
My daughter does not have pets
so I know it was not from there.
I have treated both of them again.
In hopes this does the job.

Dakota had an upset tummy today.
He did not want to eat his dinner then
later I stepped in some
up chuck, all clear like
flem. He has allergies and I
have to give him Benadryl.
With our life being in such an
up roar lately he has not been
eating right. I give him can food,
but for a filler I either put carrots,
peas or green beans in it....but
because at least once a week he
would have an upset tummy I started
adding a tablespoon of pumpkin.
That stopped the tummy issues.
But he has not been getting that
at mom's ...

Tomorrow that starts back. Lily even
gets some with her food. Read where
it helps with fur balls.

Sometime ago I asked how you handled
Christmas trees with a kitten....
Well, reading up on it I found out
that you can put orange peels around
the bottom of the tree or even spray the
tree with citrus oils.
Cats don't like anything citrus.

On another note....at my brothers last week
Lily learned to jump on the cabinets.
Did not have my spray bottle with me.
She knows she is not supposed to cause
she has not tried it here.
She also has just started the head butting.
She is learning to enjoy being rubbed, esp
around the ears and the head and she is
becoming more loving.

Dakota is doing well. I have had to
remove his collar and not put
on a bandana due to his large
skin tag. Seems everything rubs it and
he has scratched it a time or two
making it bleed.
When I picked him up at mom's and
got him home today, he ran in
the house
looking for you know
who!

Dakota and Lily thank you for
dropping in on them,
they love your comments.

Silly Little Lily Bird in a Cage / Nap Time

Sitting in my brothers great room
at an antique round table in an
antique chair, in front of the
TV, with the laptop in front of
me....my back to the
windows where the bird
cages are......

when all of a sudden TJ starts
making a crap load of noise.
First off, what was I thinking
by having my back to a bird that
don't even like me!?
haha...

I turn to see what the problem
is and why he is making
such a fuss.

When I see this.

Yep...that is Lily in the cage.
Keep in mind, the bird for this
cage stays on top of it...never
in it!
But the doors stay open just
in case he decides to go in.

Lily was looking to eat
anything that he might have
dropped.

I was having to try and talk
her out cause when I went
near the door to reach in
and get her....
he would act like he
was going to peck
my head!

BRAT!

Lily finally decided to jump out
and I shut both doors to stop
her from jumping in again.
TJ can be really, really loud!

With all that said, I noticed things
were really quiet around me.
I look and this is what I see.

Chole asleep in one chair.

Dakota in the other.

Oakley at my feet.

Maggie on the couch.

Moose went to NC with mom and dad.

Even the BRAT was not making
noise.

Lola had stopped singing and
making my day by whistling
at me.

And Lily was asleep in her spot.

Thinking I need to go take a nap!

Thanks for checking on the fur babies!

Dakota the Rat Terrier

Do you know anything about
Rat Terriers?
I have learned over the past 10
years a lot about them...
or at least about mine!

Did you know they were bred for
hunting rodents in the barns
and farms?

Well, that is part of the breeding
that is still in Dakota's blood.
He just needs to pick up the
speed!

He is him (a tad younger) right
after he chased a squirrel up a tree.

And just so you know that was not
a fluke he is he doing it
again at another tree.
(below)

He was really trying to climb
that tree.

Funny....a few years ago I had squirrels
eat a hole in my wood at the eve of the
roof....they danced over my head at
night. Dakota had NO CLUE.

Then one year a mouse moved
in. HAHA..
there again NO CLUE!

He has not earned his keep
that is for sure!

Thanks for checking in on the KING.

Lily - Sleeping / Running / Peek a Boo

Last night Lily crawled
up on the couch between
the KING and I. I can't
help snapping her pic cause
she is just so adorable!

Look at this sweet baby.

She flips around a lot.
If you notice she has that one
paw tucked up on her head!

HAHA.....so glad I caught this pic.
She was asleep with her eyes open
and look at that paw.
Looks like she is suffering
the worst hangover!

At my brothers house now...
house/bird/dog sitting.
At my home Lily knows she
is not allowed on the table...
but there we don't have a bird
on the table either.

Lily is so interested in TJ
but TJ is not having anything
to do with her.
And Lily don't hang
around long enough for
TJ to get a beak into her.

Lily loves playing peek a boo.
Here she is doing it in the tub.

She jumped out and if you notice
she is reaching out with her paw
to wrap it around the cell phone!
haha...such a mess.

Lily says thanks for coming
over to visit her,

Morning Play / Night Time Nap / I Want to Go

This morning while BLOGGING
Lily decided that Dakota
needed to get up.

So right on top of me and
my laptop she decided it
was time to play.

Last night after play time
I looked over to see this.

Then true to form Lily
did her moving and flipping.
She had to touch him.

(in the pics you will notice that
Dakota does not have on his
red collar. He has a large
skin tag right where it rubs.
Matter of fact, he has about
10 to 15 skin tags on his
body and two fatty
tumors)

A few post ago I posted that Lily
would jump in the carrier when
I asked did she want to bye bye.
I have created a MONSTER.
She has gotten where she goes
to the door when she knows
I am going somewhere.
She wants to go.

 I started out the door
yesterday and this is what
I was facing.

Upon asking her to move
I get the pic below.

If a moth that had come in the night
before had not flown by I would
have had to pick her up and move
her. But....as it was, her attention
span being so short, she took
off after the moth.

Dakota on the other hand
knew he was not going and
he retreated to the bedroom.

AH.....life with the fur babes!
I LOVE IT!
